“Exuberant Spirit,” a linoleum block print by Nolan Runnels, 11th, has earned a Silver award in the 2019 National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Of 340,000+ works of art and writing submitted, only the top 1% are recognized at the national level. The program is sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, which identifies teenagers with exceptional artistic talent and brings their work to a national audience. Founded in 1923, the Awards have grown to become the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for teens in the U.S. and the nation’s largest source of scholarships for creative young artists and writers. Past winners include Andy Warhol, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, filmmaker Ken Burns, and many others.
Congratulations Nolan!
